The last lecture

"The last lecture" is a superb heart touching book written by Randy Pausch,a married father of three who is dying from pancreatic cancer. I am quite impressed by the amazing undying enthusiasm that Randy had!

In September 2007, Randy gave a final lecture to his students at Carnegie Mellon University. A video of the original lecture quickly spread across the internet and has been view over a million times. You can check out the video at www.thelastlecture.com

Some excerpts from this book :

'We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand'

The brick walls are there for a reason. They are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.

Phrase whatever you could in a positive light. When the professor asked, "How long before i die" the doctor answered,"You probably have three to six month of good health."

Luck is indeed where preparation meets opportunity.

Its not hard you hit. Its how hard you get it...and keep moving forward.

take out some time, go to crosswords and buy this FANTASTIC book :)The trouble with books, especially good books, is that they take so long to write and just a few hours to read…
Happy Reading!

Love,
Siddharth

hey siddhrth
very well written
The real essence of this book is in the spirit and the positive optimistic attitude the author has seen life with. The greatest quality of this book is never in it has he ever lamented about the fact that he is dieing or felt sorry for himself.

Another great quality of this book is that it caters to people of all ages because regardless of ur age u can learn something from the book and draw inspiration out of it.

One of the greatest things that the author has tried to convey through this book is the fact that there is nothing called luck to succeed it is all hardwork.'We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand',Luck is indeed where preparation meets opportunity.
Clearly tells the authors mantra for success

The greatest cote or line in the book according to me is The brick walls are there for a reason. They are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.
This is a line that all students can directly relate to and draw inspiration from since all of us will sooner or later in life be in a situation where they would want to work on a prticular project or in a particular field but due to the circumstances one may not get his desired course or field ,in such a situation the authors says that one should persevere hard for what one wants as success after perseverence is way sweeter than success at the first go
The incident in the book which leads to this line is very motivational
The book also motivtes the reader to do something for his or her lovedones

AS siddhrth said it is a must read and all the readers of this blog must go and grab it as fast as possible
