Betty or Veronica - Archie's dilemma!
Archie fans world over have mixed reactions over his impending marriage with Veronica. If opinions are taken on a gender basis, then there is a clear split in the opinion of the boys and the girls. The boys think that Archie's choice of Veronica is right because she embodies a combination of beauty and money - a real asset in these times of recession. It has been seen, as a practical decision on Archie's part. The girls beg to differ though. Most of them have been rooting for Betty as she represents the independent and intellectual woman of today, who at the same time have all the qualities of a simple and sweet girl who would be the ideal daughter in law.
What came to my mind when i first read about Archie's decision is that it brings all the old debates about decisions back to the forefront-should a person choose beauty or brains? Money or character? Marrying Veronica is more like a temporary bailout for Archie, who is probably in desperate need for money and security these days. But will he be able to handle the varied tantrums of Miss Lodge day in and day out? He also has the uphill task of changing her father's impression of him.
Poor Betty...She seems to have got a raw deal, despite her years of doing Archie's homework for him and being there for him during his bad times. You can't but feel sorry for her. But she needs to convince herself that there are guys who will value her for what she is and not for her money or looks. And lets face it, there are so many better guys than our 'cute' Archiekins.
As we all wait eagerly for the big proposal and wedding in August, I leave you to ponder over the statement that 'Money can't buy me love'! How true is it in the case of our friend Archie? We'll just have to wait and find out...

Why have you said no comments this time? Anyway, I think Archie will be doing Betty a favour by not marrying her... like you said,

He's always sidelined Betty in his quest for Veronica. He's constantly been a philandering character, not overly intelligent, or talented, not exactly a deep person, AND he'd two-time his girlfriend(s)!
Betty likes him only because of a force of habit. Let him marry Ronnie. She'd probably get bored of him soon enough. :D
